School Sports Premium
Partner with PH Sports for outstanding use of your School Sports Premium funding.
School Sports Premium funding is guaranteed until 2020. The funding is provided to increase the quality of PE delivered in primary schools. The school sports premium funding must be used to improve the current sporting provision with school. There are a number of ways to achieve this based on your current sports provision in school. Many schools will be looking to upskill teachers, especially NQTs who only receive a few hours of training around PE during their PGCE year. Some schools may use the funding to increase the range of sports on offer within the curriculum or as extra curricular clubs. Increasing attendance at School Games competitions is also a valid use of the sports premium funding.
The School Sports Premium funding is provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport. The funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provison of PE and sport in schools. This could include funding PE support to upskill teachers, enhancing the range of after school sports provision or diversifying your primary curriculum. The sports premium funding is allocated to primary school headteachers. On 6th February 2014 the Prime Minister, David Cameron announced a continuation of funding for the Primary PE & Sport Premium until 2020. We are expecting an announcement soon to confirm the level of funding for academic year 2016/2017.
A popular use of school sports premium funding is to provide PE Teacher Support in lessons, working alongside teachers to develop their knowledge of PE and School Sport. PH Sports have developed a model to ensure quality teacher CPD using school sport premium funding. This model is tailored to your school and the needs of your staff. primary school clusters have approached PH Sports to deliver twilight CPD sessions, providing cost effective CPD for staff.
Your school sports premium funding can be used to broaden and enhance the sports clubs that are on offer within your school. Many schools have also looked to arrange lunch clubs specifically working with sports teams providing some extra coaching for teams before competitions. At PH Sports we are flexible and tailor our solutions to your needs.
